On our lovely Australia Day weekend we travelled to the country over the border to NSW to a lovely hidden secret vintage shop near Stokers Siding, just 40 minutes from the Gold Coast. It was an overcast, windy and sometimes rainy drive but well worth it to find this little gem. A wondeful country garden led us into the wonderful world of vintage, old furniture, knick knacks, mirrors, lamps etc.
I came away with three finds -A rusty wire basket, of course for wall decoration, some rusty coloured metal gift tags, great for this Christmas’s natural theme, and as a last minute buy six glass and silver plated coasters, just perfect and now I can replace my very practical Ikea plastic ones.
Some furniture of course was higher in price but not overpriced but my purchases well under $100. Buys in all price ranges. Well worth the lovely drive. Its at Ryans Road, Uki but they have a website: http://www.monjardincottage.com.au which has a map on it and contact numbers. They are only open weekends.
Also on the internet its worth going to http://villagetrails.com.au which gives you ideas in different areas of NSW for a nice day out re shops, food etc.
A lovely place to stop at is Mavis’s kitchen just down the road from Uki for lunch in a nice Queenslander house near Mt Warning. Sit out on the balcony and take in the surrounds. Worth a look in. Go to website www.maviseskitchen.com.au for a gander.
