In a beautiful area of the Gold Coast just a smidge south of Coolangatta sits Snapper Rocks, Rainbow Bay and Froggy’s Beach. A picturesque area starting at Greenmount heading south along a scenic walkway around the rocks to Rainbow Bay. Along here you can look out for famous surfers on the waves. All along from Kirra Beach south towards Froggy’s beach you can get great views of Surfers Paradise in the distance and surfers and rocks in the foreground. There are very interesting rock formations that lead the eye towards Surfers so quite a few photographic opportunities to be had especially at dawn and dusk (the magic hours). I highly recommend a beach wind down after work on a Friday just to sit and watch the surfers, waves and people just chilling out. I’m not normally one to go the beach after work, I usually head home without giving it a thought. Something has changed my outlook – I have enrolled in a competition called Clique and it runs for one year. I don’t expect to win anything but hopefully gain some more much needed experience in photography. Their first subject is water hence my interest. It cost $50 to join but the value I will get out of this is actually getting out there and taking photos rather than just thinking about it. Even now only a couple of weeks in I have taken more photos than I would have done previously in four and trying new things. Second benefit actually appreciating our wonderful coastline and experiencing it more. As the Mastercard ad says …. Cost of competition $50, experience Priceless….
I am no expert but love your photos. especially the smooth swell of the wave in one. The idea of just chilling after work there is wonderful, would certainly give you the feeling that life is good, a lot to be grateful for and all is right with the world..thanks
