One Word Challenge: Lavender

This weeks challenge colour is Lavender and what immediately comes to mind is Lavender, the plant, but unfortunately I don’t have any.  I tried, when we were in France.  All I wanted was a picture of the rows of lavender but it was the wrong time of the year.

On looking through my immediate photos I found this landscape or riverscape on the Tweed River at dusk.  I really haven’t changed the colour, that is the way it looked through my lens just after sunset.  It was a nice late afternoon waiting for sunset when I set up near some fishermen who didn’t have as much luck as I did.

The photo is overlooking the Anchorage Island in Tweed Heads.  Sounds fancy but its an area that happens to be an island, just, with a small bridge to cross to get to it.  It is an estate and the council in their wisdom put up this lovely boardwalk for people to enjoy and it is a nice walk around that area and goes into a  man made harbour for the people there that can afford a boat.

As I was driving past one afternoon I noticed it and thought it might be nice to take a picture of and I was pleasantly surprised at the outcome, as a lot of times the picture you have in your head is nowhere near what it turns out to be.  A plus on this occasion.

So to lavender.

  3. Yup, I’ll agree with you that a shot of fields of lavender in the French countryside would be stunning. But here’s the thing: your shot is beautiful too, and I love that it’s an unexpected interpretation of the theme. Nicely done, Karen. 🙂
