This weeks challenge colour is Lavender and what immediately comes to mind is Lavender, the plant, but unfortunately I don’t have any. I tried, when we were in France. All I wanted was a picture of the rows of lavender but it was the wrong time of the year.
On looking through my immediate photos I found this landscape or riverscape on the Tweed River at dusk. I really haven’t changed the colour, that is the way it looked through my lens just after sunset. It was a nice late afternoon waiting for sunset when I set up near some fishermen who didn’t have as much luck as I did.
The photo is overlooking the Anchorage Island in Tweed Heads. Sounds fancy but its an area that happens to be an island, just, with a small bridge to cross to get to it. It is an estate and the council in their wisdom put up this lovely boardwalk for people to enjoy and it is a nice walk around that area and goes into a man made harbour for the people there that can afford a boat.
As I was driving past one afternoon I noticed it and thought it might be nice to take a picture of and I was pleasantly surprised at the outcome, as a lot of times the picture you have in your head is nowhere near what it turns out to be. A plus on this occasion.
So to lavender.
What a lovely shot!
Very successful for the challenge 🙂
I love the way the sky transitions at this time of day. Gorgeous!

Thanks Robyn, it was a real pink colour just a little while earlier then this… I got two shots that look completely different in the space of about an hour.

That’s so pretty. I love lavender and have it growing in my garden. 🙂

Thanks Sue. I would love to have some lavender but my garden is what I call wildly tropical.

We couldn’t grow it very well at our last place but it has taken off here. It appears to like very well drained soil.

Yup, I’ll agree with you that a shot of fields of lavender in the French countryside would be stunning. But here’s the thing: your shot is beautiful too, and I love that it’s an unexpected interpretation of the theme. Nicely done, Karen. 🙂
