Sunday Stills, the Next Challenge: Planes

Planes, I love planes.  They take you places, perhaps new or somewhere to revisit.  I am lucky enough to travel on planes at least twice a year, usually going to visit relatives or on a conference, but sometimes on a holiday to somewhere new.

This weeks challenge calls for planes interior or exterior.  I guess I have taken the exterior of the plane but I preferred the beautiful birds eye landscapes I see from above either going or coming back to the Gold Coast.  Of a morning flying to Sydney I always take a seat where I can get a good view of the mist slowly rising from the ridges of Springbrook National Park.  On my way home I take the other side to get the sunset when we turn in to land.

Photos on the plane were taken through a dirty window – I really wanted to open the window and clean it first :).  I would dearly love to be able to go to the outside window of my particular seat for that journey to clean it so I have better shots (lol).  I am sure there is an easier way ? polariser.  Let me know!

For more plane shots go to Ed’s Sunday Stills challenge.

  1. Love how you caught the sun in the second photo, Karen, and the composition with the pathway in the third is just spot-on perfect! As for flying, I’m not so crazy about taking to the skies, but I sure do like getting to the adventures that await on the other end 😀

    • Thanks Stacy very much. There is not a lot of room for manoeuvring re scene from the plane but I did try, I was worried I wouldn’t catch the sunset at all by the time we turned but just managed to snap it. The third was of a couple of friends of mine and it was timing pure and simple that had them at the right place when the plane came over. My friend is a mad plane buff so it was interesting to catch the two in the one shot and with the path in the right position which was just as much pure luck as any talent 🙂

  3. Nice shot of the plane flying over Currumbin there Karen. I love flying in and out of the Gold Coast. We tend to go to the GC airport rather than Brisbane. Much of a muchness, time wise but easier traffic wise. 🙂
