Photography 101: Home

This is not my usual home, it is where I have been travelling for the last few days – South Australia. Home to me is where I can be with my camera taking what I love best – sunsets and sunrises, beaches and piers – when I can get there in time.

Its where and when I feel the happiest – not a care in the world other than will I get this shot, I hope it turns out well, they are my only worries. The world stands still for a time, except for the sun of course, and I do not think of anything else just this and being in the here and now.

  1. Hi, it seems we have a bit in common 🙂 I love the sunset over the water. Beautiful shot!

  2. Your hopes fulfilled, Karen, it is a beautiful shot. It is also the second time Glenelg has turned up on a blog in the last few days. Is it because it is a palindrome? Anyway, it brings back memories of my grandparents who landed there some time after they arrived from England in the 1920s.

    • Glad it brought back fond memories for you. Adelaide and surrounds was very picturesque and I love the old jetty’s. It is a beautiful place. I do still have a couple more photos to share of this jetty to go. Thanks for commenting 🙂

  3. Love the depth of field. Including the two figures added so much to the scale.

    • Yes they do don’t they. I was cursing at first because I didn’t want anyone in the photo but then I realised it was to my advantage to have another interest in the shot and your right it does help show scale. Thanks for your comment. 🙂

  4. Beautiful photo. I, too, love sunrise/sunset shots over the ocean with a pier! I wish I was close enough to such a setting to be able to shoot it regularly as everyday is different.

    • Hi Cindy thanks for your comments, where I live now I can catch the sunrises over the sea. Where I took this shot from in South Australia it sinks into the sea at night which was quite a novelty for me living on the eastern side of Australia. But the best things in life are the ones we appreciate more because we don’t have them or see them as often I guess! Glad to meet another like minded photographer 🙂
