Friday Foto

This weeks photo again comes from my South Australia visit a few weeks ago. I know I will end up posting all my photos before I can do a proper post on each area!

Of course my favourite seascapes usually, if I am very lucky, involve a pier of some kind. I found Glenelg Jetty (Adelaide, South Australia) just the ticket. I have posted a few shots of this Jetty during sundown but this one is a favourite of mine, taken under the Jetty just as the sun sunk below the sea.

BTW what is the difference between a pier and a Jetty? I alternate between the two without truly knowing 🙂

  2. Doesn’t matter the difference between the two – you’d shoot them beautifully just the same! So lovely, Karen. I always love the perspectives you choose. Did you use your 10-stop filter for this?

    • Aw thanks Stacy. I did use my new filter. Cost more than any earrings I own!! I used a cheap one before that which ended up in the drink and had a pink tinge to it. It really is “you get what you pay for”. This one is a lot smoother and colour wise I am really happy. I just have to remember to put it on away from the sea and sand 😦 …..

  6. Beautiful photo Karen. I am not sure, i think the difference is the size, a jetty is just to step in or out of a boat? I will see what google thinks 😉

    • Thanks Andrea. Yes its a puzzle… I like the idea of a pier being longer and somewhere where you can walk down and fish off and a jetty for the boats makes sense. The place in the picture is called a jetty though and that confused me. I think it maybe should be a pier?? 🙂

      • Hm I’ve just read it on a website that a pier usually stands over the water sort of on legs whereas a jetty is on the body of the water. Yes i think this is a pier 😉 well according to what i read on wiki and answer.com lol

      • Thanks for looking Andrea, I’m with you on this one. I always thought a jetty would be smaller for some reason. Ill have to look more into it too. I appreciate your thoughts… 🙂
