Today, pay attention to how colour affects your images. Experiment with one colour, and think about how to feature it prominently.
Tip: As you train your eye to look for colour, keep it simple:
◾Lean toward one bold colour against a neutral background, instead of several colours competing for attention in a scene.
◾Look for a strong colour within a basic composition of uncomplicated lines — your pop of colour will stand out more.
When I was in Sydney recently I was lucky enough to go to Sculpture by The Sea at Bondi on Sydney’s coastline.
The weirdest and most wonderful sculptures with a few mediocre ones all thrown in along the walk from Bondi to Tamarama.
One of these was:
Glamarama – Linton Meagher. Made entirely of different coloured lipsticks, rolled at different lengths to create one fluid piece. A clever comment on the unrealistic perceptions of beauty in the area.
Thanks for telling…. I’d looked at it from so many angles and couldn’t work it out 🙂

Was wondering what it was – colour is amazing against the plain background – it really does POP.

I thought it was some type of star fish at first and couldn’t work it out. Thanks for the explanation.

Of course it wouldn’t be anything other than lipstick stuck in some sandstone rock by the beach 😉
Yes a starfish is a good description, maybe the artist was going for that look.
