Converge: verb (used without object), converged, converging.
1. to tend to meet in a point or line; incline toward each other, as lines that are not parallel.
2. to tend to a common result, conclusion, etc.
For this abstract shot I photographed one of the many exhibits in sculptures by the sea in Sydney this year. It was Alejandro Propato’s permanent sunrise exhibition that captured my imagination and I thought a good convergence challenge photo. It was 45 metres long and he used 6 kilometres of nylon line. Impressive.
Of course I have cropped it in to take the distraction of the crowds on the sand away. Here is the original.
The sculpture in the foreground is a large frying pan by artist Andrew Hankin entitled ‘We’re fryin’ out here which alerts us to the dangers of the sun.

Cool exhibit! Perfect for the challenge, and the fact that Alejandro Propato used 6 kilometres of nylon line to make it, is very impressive!

I would have liked to see him make this exhibit. That would have been frustrating I bet! 🙂

Thanks GM, I knew I had taken a picture of this exhibit but I wasn’t sure how close I was. It would have been better to have had a keen eye at the time and take some photos up close to highlight this amazing and creative sculpture. Luckily my crop in wasn’t too blurry 🙂

I know right. It was strange and odd on a beach landscape but that’s what the sculptures are like. 🙂

Thanks Kiki. Yes it’s hard sometimes, you think you know what a word means but I have to say most times I check the dictionary! 🙂

I’m amazed at the creativity of the artist – and would never have known you had to crop the photo as much as you did, Karen, without showing us 🙂 Great photo for the challenge!

I know Stacy and the patience to feed all that string to four points on the beach! I was lucky when I cropped in I wasn’t sure it would show up okay but surprisingly it was alright. Wished I had of thought of that angle when I was there it would have been a lot sharper. Thanks for stopping by Stacy 😀
