Nighttime shots is something I would like to do more of but regrettably I like my home when the sun goes down and do not have a lot of photos in this genre. When I was in Sydney last year staying in a hotel with a view of the Bridge I had the best of both worlds – the comfort of my room and a pretty well unobstructed view of the bridge.. what else to do but get the camera out and experiment with some slow shutter speeds. I didn’t have a polariser but was lucky enough not to have much in the way of reflected light on the glass. (I have posted this previously last year I think).
So here we have Sydneyt Harbour Bridge at nightfall, a lot darker than I would have liked in the foreground but I was too lazy to go outside closer to the water for a better foreground.

It’s a good shot Kaz – have you tried cropping the dark foreground away? It would bring the bridge closer too.

No I hadn’t thought of it as I liked the star bursts from the lights in the very foreground but will have a play with it and see how it turns out. Thanks Barb 🙂

Love night shots, and this one is wonderful, Kaz! What a breathtaking view. I’ve taken my fair share through windows and never realized a polarizer would help with any (duh!). Thanks for that tip!
