Daily Post Photo Challenge: Ephemeral

Ephemeral:
adjective
1. Lasting for a very short time….

Ephemeral for me this week is about travel.  You wait so long preparing and saving for those few short weeks away then they are gone and back to reality.  One such trip was in 2013 when we visited the Loire Valley in France.

At this time my sister had decided to give me a balloon ride for my birthday so with our friend Toni, we arrived ready for our ride.  We were going to float over the renowned Chenonceau Castle.  We had to wait for a long time waiting for a decision whether to go or cancel, when the winds dropped and we were away.

It happened so quickly, one minute on the ground and the next up, up and away.  I had to find my feet for a second or two then looked around and saw the castle before me in all its grandeur with a birds eye view that not many get to see.  Out came the camera and with a couple of quick shots it was gone…  how lucky were we to be travelling this magnificent country but also to be viewing this castle from the air.

Fleeting in sight but for ever in my memory.

  1. I recognised this castle as soon as I saw your picture! We visited this castle years ago and we all fell in love with it, I think because we don’t have any such places here in Aus! Your sentiments are perfect – fleeting in sight but forever in the memory. Great example of ephemeral.
PS. I love your theme, I also use it but haven’t seen too many other bloggers using it – looks great 🙂

    • Thanks Debbie very much. Yes such a magnificent Chateau that we’ve both been fortunate to visit. Re theme yes it’s surprising that there aren’t more people using it. I find it a great theme too. Thanks for dropping by 🙂

  2. Very well said and I agree, you prepare and you look forward to it for such a long time and then it’s finally there… And already over. Beautifully captured as always 🙂

  3. How lucky were you, being able to fly over that beautiful castle in a hot air balloon – and not only that, but to get some photos of it too…you would have had to be quick I would imagine, to get them. But you did, and it’s a superb capture.
