Eds Sunday Stills, the next challenge: Cows

Coming from the Gold Coast which is an urban coastal city you wouldn’t think we would have much to do cow-paddockwith cows.  Fortunately this area is just a strip and behind the Gold Coast is some wonderful hinterland and rolling hills.  Down a little the northern rivers area of New South Wales was used predominantly as a dairy area until its collapse in the recession.  There are still a lot of areas though for raising cattle and only a 20 minute drive inland or south and you will find them.

Iwaiting-at-the-dairy have posted these photos before but when a cow day challenge comes along I have to bring them out again  to showcase our diverse country.

Out the back of the Gold Coast in one of the many valleys we found some dairy cattle patiently waiting to be milked.  This valley is rife with agriculture and cattle having a rich volcanic soil and being part of the scenic rim.

Looking further afield the last picture has been taken looking at Mont St Michel in Normandy France where we find cattle grazing with a birds eye view of the island eating in the lush grasslands.

  1. These are lovely photos of cows in different states of hanging around – some grazing, some waiting patiently to be milked, and some chilling out!
The Northern Rivers is a beautiful area with much to see in the way of stunning countryside – and cows! I am fortunate to live opposite a dairy farm so I get to see cows every single day – I just love cows, they have such gentle eyes.

  8. I grew up in the Northern Rivers so I know the cows there well but I adored seeing your photo of the French cows. It is a great photo with Mt. St. Michel in the background.

  9. I spent a lot of time on back roads in NSW and Queensland and I never saw cows, so I can see why you would want to highlight them Kaz. Lovely photos. 😀
