The challenge today is to show a picture of before and after….
Out the back on my hedge of camellias is a beautiful flower in all its glory and then a the last bit of colour on a dried stem as the flower dies….
For more challenge photos of this and that go to Eds Sunday Stills.
It’s a shame beautiful flowers have to die, but I suppose if they were always in full flower, we wouldn’t appreciate them as much. I always get a thrill when I see the progress of a tiny new flower bud slowly opening and blossoming the way they do.

You’re right Barb, I love a new bud as well but decided today not to start with the bud but to show its decline, a bit sadder but still the circle of life 🙂

My neat freak tendencies have me out there deadheading as fast as they show a speck of decay. However, it is part of life, and if they flowered all the time, the plant would die exhausted after one season. Better to conserve the beauty over a long time me thinks.
