OWPC: Seasons – Cold

cold winters travelA difficult subject for some parts of Australia to show a picture of cold.  What I consider cold here near the Gold Coast in winter is probably somewhere else’s summer temperatures…. so I cannot complain nor can I come up with some frosty or snow covered photos as I do not possess any in my arsenal of pictures.

What I do have however is a foggy photo which I think gives a cold feeling especially in black and white.  It was taken on our way to the farm a few weeks ago going over the Gibraltar range in NSW (New South Wales) Australia.  It was a sometimes rainy day and as we headed south the temperatures started to go down.  We encountered this misty fog for a short time, thank goodness, when heading over the range.  On the other side we had sunny skies but painted with a lot of lovely cloud cover.

Not really cold but you might have to use your imagination a wee bit!

  2. It looks cold – and clammy! B&W serves this photo well.

  3. I love fog and I love taking photos of it, we just don’t seem to get that much of it here anymore, unfortunately. I love your image Kaz.

  4. I can help out on that one. Fog and cold and rainy are the second names of the part of country I live. 🙂 But we have sunny periods as well. Nice shot. I like the composition with the street leading into the fog and the car leaving this area. And B&W is the perfect medium to boost the fog and coldness.

  5. Cold or no cold, this has a certain chilly atmosphere in monochrome!
