On yet another trip to the Lismore area in the past couple of weeks and going into macadamia country, I was struck by the trunks of the trees and the shadows on the ground that they caused. Macadamia trees are grown in rows with thick leaves and when they grow up there is no space between the branches. The sun seems to shine through underneath and causes shadows across the ground which looks like striped carpet. It always amazes me and on one of our trips we stopped so I could take a picture. Not sure I have the picture I want but this is a little of what I was after – the pattern on the ground.
For more monochrome images please go to the hard working Leanne Cole’s website and click on the MM2-14 link.
These patterns on the ground look next to unreal. Great document of fascinating nature. Delayed congratulations for a successful and very inspiring blog. Smiles. Reinhold

Looks like the ground is undulating, or they are planted in raised rows. Awesome effect of the light and this photo suits the B&W style greatly.

I think it was a little but not a lot, it might be more the effect of the light or more likely anything that dropped below the trees stayed there whereas in the aisles it could be cleared… not sure… will have to investigate further. Thanks Claudette 🙂

I think it is just the effect of the light (which was what I was trying to say) and the lovely way you captured it.
