I have to confess I do have a door fetish, not as strong as my pier fetish but nonetheless still I have one. All over France and Italy I have been taking door photos and a smattering from other places, but strangely not really any here in Australia, it must be the age that attracts me and the ornate designs sometimes. I wonder do gates count as well?
This week the Daily Post asks us to post a door or doors. They are a portal to something else hidden, I wonder if that’s the attraction?
Beautiful doors. I love them, too! 🙂

All so pretty by my eyes went straight to the London Pimlico door. I just love that one!

What a wonderful collection, Kaz. I wonder too if it’s the age and character of the doors that’s the attraction and as you say, Australia is sadly lacking – another great reason to travel! :))

I agree. Very old doors are somehow far more interesting than our Australasian/Antipedeon ones. Nice shots

I know it is addictive isn’t it. I especially like the European doors as they have a sense of history like no other and yes those shutters…. 🙂

It’s the sense of something having perhaps been recycled or reused…centuries after its production…that really appeals to something nostalgic in me I think! I love that each European country has its own recognisable signature and style which has evolved….except that now everyone seems to be replacing wood with white generic pvc….and that appeals not one ounce to me 🙂

I agree and a door says so much about what is within, its a very important portal and no PVC wouldn’t do! 🙂

Beautiful door photos – like you I am fascinated by ‘old doors’ and most interesting doors in Europe and Asia are much older than in the USA and your home Australia….. Not that there aren’t interesting doors there, but I find older doors more interesting and even a bit intriguing. Have a wonderful week.

No better doors than those in Francd 😉 Wonderful gallery, Kaz, and whether gates count or not, the shadows of the gate and cross is stunning!
