This Friday my photo is from my trip to Victoria with Leanne. We ventured up a dirt road, found some lovely tall red cedars and then on to Hopetoun Falls. My only regret – not getting of the beaten path and staying on the boardwalk ( yes I know we shouldnt move off that to protect all the vegetation) but a gentle tiptoe in one direction would have made a different view. Still I am happy with my shot.
A funny aside – we made our way down to the falls, got very excited as it was beautiful, got the tripods out, the cameras set up and ready to go….. hang on people were coming! We had the prime position but the boardwalk was bouncy and as we were doing long shutter pictures, any movement would wreck our photos….. so we waited patiently. How long could it take for people to look at the falls take a couple of photos and leave… and waited….
Unfortunately it was a couple of selfie loving young girls who, not content with us taking their photo, they needed one from the left, one from the right, pouty lips, half smile, full smile and no smile, pictures together, pictures apart and times that by two as there were two of them….. It honestly took at least half an hour and I am not sure the waterfall was a feature in any of their photos. The young of today so self obsessed, it was unbelievable. It was all about them and not the surroundings. They may as well have been in a store with a poster of the falls behind them.
Lucky we had the patience of Job and out-waited them so they left, FINALLY!…… Our reward was being able to potter around with different speeds and click away without disrupting anyone else and not feeling pressured.
Another beautiful part of Victoria done and dusted!
Congratulations on your success. What a beautiful photo.

Thanks very much. I’m sure as they get older they will appreciate nature more as i have. At least they went there which is a positive start. 😊

You forgot sunglasses on, sunglasses off, unbelievable, you are right about the poster idea, maybe they should put those at the top, so they don’t need to bother walking down.
Lovely photo of the falls though, it was a beautiful spot.

Really lovely photo! Glad you decided to wait to take the shot. Not sure that all young people are “self obsessed” because they take selfies, but it was definitely inconsiderate of them to stay on the bridge so long. Apologies for my generation 😉 haha

Thanks hal very much. I have never seen anyone take quite so many photographs as those two. I would like to think they are the exception…not the rule. Thanks for your comments 🙂
