There is nothing like a wedding to make me a romantic sentimentalist, sobbing without prompt at the slightest provocation.
The wedding this past weekend was no different. My god-daugther Ashlea was getting married.
Her family and myself have been friends for over 30 years and during Ashlea’s and also Erin’s, her sister, growing up I used to visit on a week night once a week, not only for a wonderfully cooked meal by Jeanelle but to see the kids and watch them grow.
As happens through life, we drifted apart naturally as the girls grew older and had other things on their minds and I too ventured to new horizons.
Throughout this time my love for the girls and the family has never waned no matter that I haven’t seen them for a considerable time. They are always in my heart and I love them all dearly as I do Erin’s daughter Tia, even though I really haven’t seen her since she was a baby. It comes with the territory anyone belonging to them claims a piece of my heart too.
I was overjoyed to be invited to the wedding. My partner and I booked the accommodation as close as possible relishing in the idea of a night away even though it was only an hours drive from home.
The day before had been stormy and rained heavily and all our collective fingers were crossed for a fine day. This must have paid off as, even though clouds loomed, it remained a sunny day if not a little chilly towards afternoon.
It was an intimate wedding full of family and friends, a lot of people I didn’t know from the grooms side and the usual gang that only meets up at birthdays, weddings or christenings etc to catch up on news and wish each other well until the next occasion. Its lovely when you can just pick up where you left off and hug and say hello and then look forward to the next time.
I enjoyed happy snapping away where I could at the ceremony. I can’t wait to see the official photos which would have been taken in the lovely gardens at the Wedding Resort, Mt Tamborine by professionals.
As soon as the girls came into view my chin started to wobble and when they played my favourite song from Ed Sheeran – “Thinking out Loud” then it was really too late for me. They played it again as the first dance song as man and wife and by then I was almost sobbing uncontrollably. The song means so much to me and to see their new marriage start, it was fantastic. As I type this I am listening to it again and yes I am misting up…..
Here are some photos of these precious girls and family on the day.
Really nice photos.

Kaz, your artistic romantic self, you brought to life in your god daughter’s wedding pictures and Ed’s lyrics. I was a bride’s maid once just like those little girls. Beautiful memories never disappeared from the mind. Just like the tribute to my family and the violin my father play for most of the time I was growing up. Thank you for sharing with me your beautiful day, stay in touch and we will age together crazy romantics. It is more to come
