A few weeks ago the annual Swell Festival was on at Currumbin Beach on the Gold Coast. They usually have a very eclectic mix of “art” for your perusal. Entry of course is free as its on the beach so a wander around is an interesting adventure.
I am not sure of the titles of the art I saw, I was on a mission to try and photograph as many as I could before the crowds came and as it was at dusk, before the sun set. I did go a couple of times as there were quite a few to get around.
Below is a gallery of some of the interesting entries. Open for your own interpretation.
What a fabulous event! I like the idea of an exhibition or art installation being in such an open space, especially since several of the pieces either seem connected to the landscape through material or form or else appear to take their inspiration from the ocean. Your photographs are lovely and make me wish I could go and see for myself.

Eclectic is a good word, I think my fave was the towels on the washing line, such an aussie thing!

Arent they just. They are done by different artists from different places, not just the Gold Coast and I think they do a circuit and go to other exhibitions also. This year’s I thought were really outstanding 🙂

What a great idea so people get a chance to appreciate it more. Some people are not so keen on taking a peek at museums.

It is Bebs isnt it. It doesnt cost anything to look at and sometimes interact with different pieces. It only costs for the booklet that lets you know who did what… of course I didnt get that otherwise I might have been more informative lol 🙂

Great photos Kaz 🙂 There’s some amazing art and artists on the Gold Coast!! Some of the artwork reminds me of Mazey Day (part of the Gollowan Festival), in Penzance, Cornwall

Past it now. We’re planning other trips to the east coast, one state at a time. Not for a while though 😊
