About

I live in the Northern Rivers area of New South Wales. I love old wares and an eclectic mix of old and new… I need to travel, without it I would stagnate and hope that one day I will take a great photo…………

My blog records mostly my photographic journey as I strive to take better pictures and learn new techniques. I have a passion for landscape photography and want to showcase my beautiful surrounds in the Northern Rivers of NSW and the Gold Coast area of Queensland. Follow along on my adventure and learning curve, it would be nice to have company on my travels!

I also record my day trips, around these areas, to lovely hidden spots and treasure troves of vintage wares.

Lastly I want to record my DIY projects whenever I get the time to bring new life to my vintage pieces that I collect along the way. Unfortunately this has taken a backseat to my photography of late, maybe in the winter…….facebook cover 2011

    • Thanks Jane for your compliment. It does boost the spirits. I loved your writing about Turkey with a bit of humour as well. I remember Turkey and somewhere near Pammukkale we used to see an old man with a horse almost the same age and cart…. It was in the 80s when I was there – such a beautiful country. Most welcoming people except for some young boys at a market who threw stones at us! Have things changed 🙂 Look forward to more adventures of the Turkish housewife.

So far, there are a number of great avenues to explore, so perhaps the both of us will find something that will leave us feeling comfortable instead of panicked 🙂 Thanks, also, for your follow! While I’ve just had a short bit of time to quickly browse through your blog, I’m loving what I’m seeing. I’m delighted to be following you right back!

      • It is! I love taking pictures too but I don’t have the adequate materials to do so. But I’m happy enough with a clear camera. It could do its own miracles at times. Well then, see you on the next challenges!

      • Thanks Karen so much that’s very kind of you and thoughtful. I have had a couple of nominations but haven’t done anything about them as yet which I blame on being busy. Really I should at least acknowledge those who have nominated me and we all may benefit. I’m away at present but will look into what I need to do. Again thanks for your kind thought. 🙂

  19. Hey there Newbie Spikey!
(for your info, a Spikey is the term for folk who are part of the clan known to be followers of Uncle Spike 🙂

Thank you… I really appreciate that as I for one, know how many interesting and entertaining blogs are out there.

Blogging since June 2013, my aim is to deliver an eclectic offering of posts, from my ‘point n shoot’ attempts at basic photography, to the sharing of my travel adventures over the decades, as well as day to day happenings here on the farm. Oh, plus a few observations, opinions and lighter-hearted stuff thrown in for good measure.

I normally keep to a couple of posts a day, maybe 3-4 at weekends if I have something special to share. But if you are at a loose end one day, maybe you’ll enjoy trawling through some of my older stuff too. I have added plenty of categories to help in said digging process.

Thanks again and hope you have a great day…

  31. Hello Helen, looks like I found a remarkable blog – your blog – which I would like to follow. Very inspiring images, especially your black and white pictures. I like the idea to see your awesome work from now on in my reader. If … I will survive the storm and rain which right know hits the northern part of Germany, where I live. May be I should take a few pictures and do some black and white post-processing. 😉 All the best to you. Reinhold

    • Thanks again Reinhold for your very kind feedback. Black and white wasn’t something I did very often to start but now I look at each photo and ask the question – what would it look like in B&W and sometimes it looks better 🙂
